Our networking software actually has a feature like this, which is described in this [detailed guide](https://www.unihosted.com/blog/identifying-client-devices-on-your-unifi-network-a-detail-guide). They also have a [door access](https://ui.com/door-access/) product.\r\n\r\nIt would be important to let people know if and how we are going to use this. It should be easy to opt-in and opt-out of the system.\r\n\r\nAs a starting point we could connect to the [UniFi network API](https://ubntwiki.com/products/software/unifi-controller/api) (e.g. [unificontrol](https://unificontrol.readthedocs.io/en/latest/introduction.html)) and at least collect some stats on how many mobile/laptop devices are connected over the course of a week.","maintainer":"","name":"Bandwidth","phase":"Challenge","progress":0,"score":0,"source_url":"","stats":{"commits":0,"during":0,"people":0,"sizepitch":1256,"sizetotal":1302,"total":1,"updates":0},"summary":"Take the Internet pulse of your digital nomads","team":"","team_count":0,"updated_at":"2024-12-16T11:31","url":"https://atelier.dribdat.cc/project/6","webpage_url":""},{"autotext":"","autotext_url":"","category_id":"","category_name":"","contact_url":"https://www.uvek-gis.admin.ch/BFE/sonnendach/index.html?featureId=14664133&lang=de","created_at":"2024-02-27T06:53","download_url":"","event_name":"Sensing Spaces","event_url":"https://atelier.dribdat.cc/event/4","excerpt":"","hashtag":"","id":8,"ident":"","image_url":"","is_challenge":true,"is_webembed":false,"logo_color":"","logo_icon":"","longtext":"","maintainer":"","name":"Energy","phase":"Challenge","progress":0,"score":0,"source_url":"","stats":{"commits":0,"during":0,"people":0,"sizepitch":0,"sizetotal":76,"total":1,"updates":0},"summary":"How much gas, electricity & water are we using? There is a meetup group that has been a regular at Effinger for a few years. In the context of a coworking space, this could mean collecting environmental data such as:\r\n\r\n* Temperature\r\n* Humidity\r\n* Air quality\r\n* Noise and light levels\r\n* People counting\r\n* Locks & doors\r\n\r\n.. and putting it together into a live dashboard or a historical chart to visualize trends. Understanding the environment and supporting \"smart office\" projects can improve the quality of life for people using the space. It can also raise important questions about surveillance, energy usage, or sovereignty. It is also a good way to learn about networking, Internet applications, radio techniques, and more.\r\n\r\n![](https://dribdat-impetus.eu-central-1.linodeobjects.com/hackdays/effinger/3/CHL80NU1Y8YH1LM8VU2PMCEY/IMG_20231204_17095601.jpeg)","maintainer":"","name":"Environment","phase":"Challenge","progress":0,"score":0,"source_url":"","stats":{"commits":0,"during":0,"people":0,"sizepitch":1579,"sizetotal":1643,"total":3,"updates":2},"summary":"Indoor sensors used to track various parameters (\u00b0C, CO\u2082, noise)","team":"","team_count":0,"updated_at":"2024-07-11T12:44","url":"https://atelier.dribdat.cc/project/7","webpage_url":"https://dribdat-impetus.eu-central-1.linodeobjects.com/hackdays/effinger/3/4YY2D0Q1ODRAIVPSB3Y97Y9K/Screenshot_from_20240303_124036.jpg"}],"name":"projects"}],"sources":[{"path":"https://atelier.dribdat.cc/","title":"dribdat"}],"title":"Sensing Spaces","version":"0.9.4"}
